This is such a great pattern! I think it’s very well written, with photos to help clarify the instructions and available pattern support if you need it! I did a couple of things different from the pattern only because my stitchpickupability (new word!) was a complete failure for no apparent reason… So, instead of picking up the stitches to knit the arms, legs, and ears, I just cast on and began knitting and later seamed the pieces onto the body using mattress stitch. It worked out very well for me because I thought it was a pain in the a$$ to fumble with the dpns and the toy flip-flopping around. (Just my opinion.) I love how the ears fold a bit… however, when I make this toy again I will use larger needles for the ears to make them more floppy and cuddly. They’re really stiff as knit on the US4s. As I mentioned in earlier posts, this toy will accompany the Happy Flower Blanket to be given to the baby girl twin sometime this summer.
I had originally started knitting a Magic Circle for the mom-to-be, but decided it was going to take far too long and end up way too large for what I was hoping to accomplish. I resorted to asking mom what she wanted, telling her that whether she chose something or not, she’d be getting a gift, so why not make it something she’d enjoy?! She mentioned slippers, so I went to my LYS and bought the goods to make some Felted Clogs.
With luck, I’ll get these done by the end of the week.
