A little later in the week than anticipated, but as promised, I have info on the baby blanket for the girl twin…
(forgive the unblocked bumps and lumps!)
Pattern: I found the Happy Flower motif pattern here and adjusted accordingly to make a blanket by casting on 124 sts, knitting 20 rows garter stitch before the pattern, in the middle, and before casting off.
Yarn: Lion Brand Cotton Ease (old) in Bubble Gum, ~2.5 balls
Started May 22, 2008
Finished May 28, 2008
Final measurement 24.5″ wide x 22.5″ tall
I adore the stitch pattern… think it’s perfect for a baby girl (or any girl for that matter) and I love the yarn. I wish I’d made the blanket just a bit larger. I was actually a little shocked at how much smaller it is than the sailboat blanket since the number of stitches and rows knit was so similar between the two. Not a huge big deal, but something to remember if/when I do this again.
Here’s a close-up of the flower:
As for the toy to go along with the boy’s blanket: the duck and octopus tied for first place with the fish coming in at a close second. Because this is my blog and I can do what I want to, I chose to knit the duck. So there. 😛 I thought the yellow coordinated nicely with the blue I used on the blanket, so even though a duck and a sailboat aren’t exactly related, it works.
(I was hoping to have a finished duck photo here, but alas, it wasn’t to be)
My next question: What toy to knit for the girl? (all Ravelry links below)
5) Teddy Bear
Lemme have it!
Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy whatever sunshine you can find. We’ll be hoping for a no-rain Saturday for yet another soccer game.
