I’m thinking I could just stop this post right there, but I won’t.
Apparently my oldest son’s school is being overtaken by good ole Gastroenteritis. Not long after attending a birthday party on Thursday afternoon, I received a phone call from a fellow mommy. She hadn’t called to tell me about this, but ended up explaining that her entire family had been ravaged last weekend–one day per person–with stomach/intestinal ailments.
Well, around 10:30pm that evening when oldest son came in our bedroom complaining that his stomach really hurt, I was so happy she had called that I couldn’t possibly explain in words alone. We made it to the bathroom just in the nick of time. Thanks Ronnie! If you hadn’t called, I probably would have sent him back to bed and caused myself a big mess to clean up! Anyway, he carried his little bucket around all day Friday and part of Saturday, but today seems to be A-OK. Unfortunately his 2 year old brother was next in line, so I’ve been chasing him with the bucket. The good news is that he’s so young, he has just been taking it in stride. He hurls, cries, then moves on as if nothing happened! A trooper, for sure.
Needless to say, I haven’t accomplished much knitting over the past several days. I cast on for a Monteverde Scarf ala Kelley. It’s a great knit, if I could just sit down and knit it! I opted to use a fingering weight yarn found on Ebay at Yarn Treehouse. It’s super soft and very girly, I think. Once I’ve got this one complete, I will attempt my first ever true lace project, using the same pattern and some Misti International Laceweight Baby Alpaca or whatever it’s called. It’s soft as all get out, but I was having a hard time dealing with the lack of weight/lack of substance to it combined with larger needles, so I copped out and went fingering weight. I’m a baby, what can I say?
Don’t you just love the magic of blocking, especially with lace? 🙂
I also finished another of the 3 Baby Bobbi Bears, but haven’t taken pictures of it yet. It looks alarmingly like the first one does! That’s what happens when you have three sisters–everything kinda needs to be similar so no one is the favorite. 😉
I wish you all a very Happy and very Healthy Thanksgiving! (if you’re in the US, that is!) Take care…
