I know I said I wasn’t going to blog about the knitting I’m working on because the mommies-to-be have access to the blog, but I’m thinking they won’t be visiting often. One mommy is busy with 4 kiddos and the end of school happenings and the other is finishing her second year of med school… So, I’m taking a chance and showing my knitting.

Pattern: Classic Cashmere Sweater in Erika Knight’s Simple Knits for Cherished Babies
Yarn: Lion Brand Baby Soft in Cream, less than one ball
Needles: Size US6
I knit the newborn size using easy care yarn and although it’s an easy pattern, I don’t think I’ll knit it again. I don’t like how the neckline is so sloppy and generally prefer cardigan style knits for new babies because they’re easier to put on. It’s a cute end result, though.

Pattern: Baby Bobbi Bear by Blue Sky Alpacas
Yarn: Patons Decor in Taupe, less than one ball
Needles: Size US6
I love love love this pattern, if you hadn’t noticed! This time around I decided to do something a bit different with the arms and knit them separately then seamed them on rather than picking up the stitches per the pattern. I much prefer the seaming method!! The arms look so much better than on the bears I’ve previously knit!!

Pattern: Top-Down Baby Cardigan found here.
Yarn: Lion Brand Baby Soft in Cream, less than one ball
Needles: Size US
This is a really cute and easy pattern, especially since the button band and neckline are knitted at the same time as the sweater. Talk about minimizing seaming! I will definitely make more of these sweaters, adding changes I have seen on Ravelry, like seed stitch and garter stitch borders in place of the k2p2 ribbing. I knit the newborn size and used well under one ball of the Baby Soft, so it’s easy care and very cost effective!

Pattern: Roaring Dinosaur from Zoe Mellor’s Knitted Toys: 25 Fresh and Fabulous Designs
Yarn: TLC Essentials in Eden Green, ~.5 skein, and very little Red Heart Super Saver in Red
Needles: Size US5
This is a really cool little dinosaur! The seaming was worrying me, so I put the guy aside for a while because I was dreading it. Turns out seaming isn’t too big a deal. I was able to seam the entire toy while playing with the kids this morning… maybe 2 hours, even with kid-like interruptions. I’d say that’s pretty tolerable. The kids all love him and each asked if he was for them, but he’s not. This will be a gift for one of the older siblings of the twins-to-be. He measures 14″ head to tail and stands 9″ tall.
That’s about it for now. I’m stuck in the house with a sick 7 year old, anxiously waiting to see if/when the sickness will hit the younger two. My poor guy has been feeling nauseous and running a fever of almost 104 for a couple of days now, but it appears the fever broke last night. He’s feeling better and the fever hasn’t reared its ugly head yet today. Apparently something is making the rounds, as the Pediatrician said they’d been seeing a lot of high fevers and stomach icky-ness lately. Some sort of virus, I suppose. It’s good for the immune system, right!?
Have a great weekend!

Oh man, that dino is SO CUTE! I love him! Also hope your little dude is feeling better and that your other 2 won’t get it!
